I was never supposed to be a rock star. I had my life all planned out for me. Play football in college. Go to the NFL. Marry my high school sweetheart and live happily ever after.
I broke both our hearts that day when I told her I was leaving. I was young. I made the right decision for me, but the wrong decision for us. I’ve poured my soul into my music, but I’ve never forgotten her. Her smell, her smile.
And now I’m going back.
After ten years.
I hope I can explain that after all this time.
I still want her to be my forever girl
I received an e-book of FOREVER MY GIRL for the blog tour. I will try not to give away too many spoilers, but I can't promise that I won't spoil a little because well, there's a lot that happens.
Rock stars? Check. Sports? Check. Hot guy? Double check. Kick a$$ love story? Check, check and check again. Need any more reasons to get this book when it releases on December 27th? Okay, okay I'll give you a few more. How about the fact that this is an emotional roller coaster full of second chances? Yeah, I liked that too.
Let's talk about the very sexy Liam. He's a football star turned rock star. After ten years, and a horrible decision, he comes home. I admit, the reason that brings him home made my heart hurt. He lost his best friend and he's returning for his funeral. There's a lot more to it, but you'll have to read the book to find out why my heart was breaking in the first chapter. Almost as soon as he returns home Liam learns a secret that Josie kept from him. I respected the fact that Heidi let the relationships in this book play out and didn't end one for the other. If she'd done that, I'm not sure I would have liked Liam as much as I did. There were a couple of times that I thought he acted like a jerk, but in the end it was really hard not to fall in love with him.
Josie is a likeable character. Her reactions to her world turning upside down frustrated me a few times, but they were realistic. Again, Heidi handled the turmoil in the best way possible. In my opinion. Josie is an independent business owner and a character I could definitely see myself being friends with. She's there for her best friend when she needs her and she allows Liam to do the right thing even though it brings more chaos into her world.
I've read a lot of steamy romances lately and find myself drawn to them. FOREVER MY GIRL is anything but that. The romance between Liam and Josie is so strong it wasn't needed. I can't say that the story was full of surprises, but there were enough twists to keep you going. It's definitely a book I would recommend for anyone!!
